Statement of Character Standards

The goal of the Riverfront Character Inn (RCI) is to minister to the needs of the people it serves—not only the patrons of the facility, but the leaders and citizens of the community as well. We seek to maintain a peaceful, uplifting environment marked by an attitude of honor and respect. Character is defined as the inward motivation to do what is right whatever the cost, whether or not anyone is watching. We desire to serve the city of Flint by exhibiting character to the community. If you, too, are committed to building a community of character, we are pleased to offer our facilities and our services to you for conferences and special events.

In order to fulfill our goal, we are committed to conducting ourselves in accordance with the highest standards of character, and we ask our event hosts and patrons to join us in maintaining these standards.

RCI is a smoke-free and alcohol-free facility. We strive to maintain a fresh, healthy atmosphere in which people conduct themselves with dignity and respect. We firmly believe that keeping the facility free from smoke and alcohol carries us toward this goal.

RCI understands the significant impact that music has on the mind and emotions of our patrons (and our staff). Therefore, in order to ensure that spirits are uplifted and encouraged during a visit to our facility, we are committed to providing only the highest-quality, melodious music. We ask our patrons to preview with us any music they intend to use during an event so that we can ensure that the environment will not be harmed by music that is inappropriately loud, distracting, or unsettling.

RCI strives to incorporate awareness and recognition of character qualities in all activities and events at the facility. To the extent that event hosts are willing to promote character awareness or character recognition in their event programming, RCI will be an enthusiastic partner in the effort.

A visit to RCI is an opportunity to gain insight into basic life principles—those attitudes and actions that build character and lead to success, as well as those that lead to distress and failure. We encourage everyone who visits RCI to take advantage of the opportunity to look over the materials in our resource center or to view special programming on our in-house television channels. You are invited to participate from time to time in meetings, seminars, and conferences hosted by RCI that are aimed at building Character and developing wisdom and discernment.
